Helpful information on applying for a passport including the documentation you are required to bring with you

You  can only schedule an appointment to apply in person using the DS-11 Form if at least one of the following is true:

·         You are applying for your first U.S. passport or you are under age 16 or your previous U.S. passport was issued when you were under age 16

·         Your previous U.S. passport was lost, stolen, or damaged or was issued more than 15 years ago

Passport renewals that don't meet the above conditions, must be done by mail.

Current routine processing time is approximately seven to ten weeks.  (these estimates do not include mail time)  If you need a passport for international travel within 2 weeks, please call 1-877-487-2778 to make an appointment.  Please note, appointments are limited and may not be in Minnesota.

You may purchase passport photos for an additional fee of $17.00 at the office.  Federal photo requirements should be reviewed prior to arrival.

Payment for the application fee is check only and one check per application to US Department of State.

Payment for the application processing fee and photo can be cash, check, or credit card (we cannot accept American Express) to Carver County.

An appointment places you next in line but will not eliminate all waiting times.  When you check in, we will assist you as soon as possible.

Each applicant must have their own appointment, appointments are 10 minutes each, please make consecutive appointments for each to allow time for processing.
